The Grove Sports Bar & Eatery is an active restaurant-bar in Beech Grove, which is an Indianapolis suburb in Central Indiana. This is one of those neighborhood bars that’s always just chock full of friendship on all sides.

Prices are good, service is smiley, and there’s lots to do if you’d rather not just sit and talk. They have pool tables and video games, aside from the dart boards, on which they hold regular tournaments. You’ll find favorite Midwest fare such as baby back ribs and even steak there, with good value on the food, to complement the good value on their drinks.

Open seven days a week, The Grove Sports Bar & Restaurant goes out of their way to create fans. They have daily specials and other “special specials” each Friday and Saturday. The wings are free every Wednesday, Thursdays they offer tacos for only fifty cents and Long Island Tea for only one dollar. They like to say, “It takes two hands to eat our sandwiches.”

Beech Grove music tends to gravitate to this Beech Grove bar, especially on holidays. Featured is the Pure Gold Band. This popular group of musicians plays country, blues, pop metal and pop rock, something for everybody. The Grove is the home base for The Pure Gold Band. They maintain a steady beat there from 9:00 p.m. till 2:30 a.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Making music for going on 30 years, they like to tell people they’re “the only band in town that Grandpa can jam with right alongside his son/daughter and his grandson/granddaughter.” Also setting the joint on fire on a regular basis is D.J. Bobby Jones, who happens to be a member of the Pure Gold Band. Regulars at this Beech Grove restaurant and bar are universally referred to as the “The Grove Rockers.”

The Grove Sports Bar & Eatery is a sports bar by name, so don’t be surprised if you see lots of regulars enjoying one of the famous Indianapolis sports teams on some of the many televisions strewn about the place. Heads up: They sometimes like to paint themselves blue in honor of their beloved Indianapolis Colts.

The Silver Bullet Sports Bar is one of those accessible, friendly neighborhood bars that abound in the hospitable Hoosier country. Doesn’t look like much on the outside, but boy, does it rock on the inside.

The Silver Bullet Sports Bar can be found on the east side of Beech Grove, a suburb of Indianapolis in Central Indiana. While they do serve lunch and dinner at the Silver Bullet, fun and games are also served up aplenty.

This popular Beech Grove bar has more than pool tables, video games and dart boards. Some favorite greater Indianapolis bands play there, providing Beech Grove music a sturdy reputation for great dating and dancing material. They’ve also got a jukebox and karaoke for die-hard music lovers.

The Silver Bullet offers daily drinks specials. You can get a bucket of five domestic beers on ice for only ten dollars at the Bullet, or a Bloody Mary for $2.75 on special. They have a busy grill that cranks out pub fare till the early hours, too.

As a sports bar in a city where basketball and football are revered, the Silver Bullet Sports Bar also offers the obligatory television entertainment. They stay open till the cows come home or the cops arrive, which ever happens first.

Beech Grove history reads like a chapter in a pioneer book about the making of the Midwest. The city of Beech Grove originated as a base for a repair facility owned by the “Big Four” railroads. Amtrak presently runs the rails in town. The railroad was an enormous influence all throughout the Indiana, especially in the greater Indianapolis area, and Beech Grove was no exception.

Beech Grove was, however, slow to take off as a community. Although official incorporation came in 1906, it was not until 1908 that it began to expand from its tiny stop-off standing, with only two businesses and four homes at the time. Today, a century later, it boasts a comfortable population of 15,000, which is rising year by year.

The Beech Grove Public Library maintains a History Room that houses a good collection of newspaper, photographic and other types of memorabilia, including historical information about Beech Grove Schools and life in Beech Grove in general, across the years. You can find much to investigate about the history of Beech Grove at this venerable learning facility.

With Guinness right on tap and a nice full bar selection, a pool table, games, a jukebox, television, pleasant company and a laid-back atmosphere, O’Gara’s Irish Pub is just what you want your neighborhood bar to be. It’s located right on Main Street in Beech Grove, a Southside Indianapolis suburb. Though the town is often pegged “sleepy,” this is one Beech Grove bar where you can enjoy Beech Grove nightlife without falling asleep.

Lots of regulars hang out at O’Gara’s Irish Pub. Rumor has it they’re friendly and “don’t stare too much.” In fact, O’Gara’s Irish Pub is well-known as a fun place to commiserate with your neighbors and make new friends. Indiana and the rest of the Midwest are dotted with these little establishments. You can even smoke in this one. O’Gara’s is, in fact, so accommodating that, once they’ve close their kitchen, they’ll let you bring in a pizza from the Beech Grove restaurant next door, Ball Park Pizza and Eatery II. They do serve lunch and dinner pub fare at O’Gara’s, though.

O’Gara’s Irish Pub is locally owned and operated by the O’Gara family, universally considered one of the nicest clans in Indy. The O’Garas come from an auto racing background, with owner John O’Gara (AKA Johnny “O”), long-time mechanic in the Indy Racing League, and his daughter-in-law Sarah, owner of Sarah Fisher Racing. John manages her team these days, along with managing the pub.

You’ll see lots of Kelly green on the walls and lots of racing stuff decorating the walls. Next time you find yourself on the Southside of Indy, drop on in and introduce yourself. Bet you make some friends.
